Every time you pick up your guitar and play, you leave tiny bits of dead skin, body oils, sweat, and all types of gunk loitering on your strings. Stuck between the windings (a space Elixir calls theCritical Zone of Tone), these contaminants dampen vibration and accelerate corrosion. The result? Strings that are dead, rough and dirty. The Cure for the Common String.Elixir Strings are coated in a unique way to protect wound strings from your DNA and other contaminants. A flexible, strong, yet micro-thin polymer tube defends the Critical Zone of Tone from invading enemies. Nothing (including the coating) gets between the windings. The result? Strings that sound and feel their best three to five times longer than ordinary strings. The Choice is YoursElixir Strings are available in two different flavors. Both deliver the same long life, but differ in tone and feel.

5 Stars New strings, or a new guitar?
Wow, these strings make my guitar sound great. I thought that I just had a bad guitar, but as it turns out, new Elixir strings make my guitar sound completely different, completely awesome. So much bass, clear treble. Sound great while recording. Buy these strings!
5 Stars Worth the price
I’ve tried all kinds of strings for my acoustic (a Seagull). Unfortunately for my wallet, these Elixirs are the ones I keep coming back to. I’ve given up trying other brands and I’m just gonna go with these from now on. When you find a good price, stock up because the quality can’t be beat. And since they last longer (both physically and the tone of the sound), the value is actually pretty decent.
3 Stars Good for people with oily hands
These are good for people with oily hands but they do not sound nearly as good as non-coated strings. The tone is significantly duller. Many companies put these on the models they ship to stores because they last longer and are not ruined by oily handed people. I personally never use these coated strings but can see why they are popular with certain people and for situations where many different people will play the same instrument.
5 Stars Great Elixir strings
I’ve liked Elixir strings since the first time I tried them. I like the tone, and for me they hold up better than any other brand of acoustic strings that I’ve used.
5 Stars Light and durable
I love the Elixir light nanoweb strings. They are light enough to bend and solo while keeping tune and never breaking. I used to buy Martin strings exclusively but they would always bust in the middle of heavy playing, which is a real pain, especially if you play live.
These are some of the lightest acoustic strings on the market. I suggest picking up a pair and trying them out, what have you got to lose?
Buy them from Amazon because they are $20+ in a store, that is IF they are sold at your local guitar store – they aren’t in my Hollywood Guitar Center.
